Great Ab’s in no time!

The obsession with the perfect six-pack ab’s has been around for hundreds of years. But, what’s it all about? just beauty or function? Let’s look at the function of the abdominal wall. It helps to keep you upright ’cause if you never had them, you would be bent over face down! The inner core stabilizes you and keeps your ribcage lifted ensuring proper alignment and posture. The back muscles, that are attached to the ribs and hips work together with the abs to functionally help you bend forward, backwards, rotate and reach sideways.
With a proper well-balanced abdominal workout one should focus on ALL the components to ensure a strong functional core. I have attached a short video of what I teach when doing abs in my classes. Have a sneak peek here…
Marc’s Ab Training Tips:
- Always do your ab work on a stability ball, bosu or functional training tool. Try stay away from conventional machines.
- The more variation, the better.
- Add some resistance by using bands, medicine balls, kettle bell’s or even dumbbells.
- Be creative. If you see a trainer on the floor doing an amazing ab workout, go and ask him/her what they were doing. I’m sure they will share their knowledge with you.
- Be PATIENT! Remember, loose the body fat, and your abs will show!
